• Scottish golfer plays EVERY public course in Scotland
• Laurie Skuodas, 58, took 13 years to achieve the feat
• He played a total of 8,091 holes – with two hole-in-ones
A Scottish golfer has achieved something very few others – if any – have done before by playing every single one of the Home of Golf’s 558 public courses.
It took 58-year-old Laurie Skuodas 13 years to take in every Scottish layout, which reportedly set him back £8,500 in green fees and thousands more in travel and accommodation.
“I was just enjoying playing different courses and just kept going” – Laurie Skuodas
He played a total of 8,091 holes on his journey with two of those hole-in-ones – at Vale of Leven and Kirkintilloch – and even sailed in his yacht to courses on Colonsay, Tiree, South Uist, Benbecula and Barra.

“I honestly don’t know how far I have travelled,” Laurie told The Daily Mirror. “I was just enjoying playing different courses and just kept going.
“It forced me to explore more of my lovely country in a different way and go to places I would have not gone to otherwise.

“Scotland has the best ratio of golf courses to population in the world – as I have found out.”

As for his most expensive round, that was £185 at 2016 Open Championship venue Royal Troon.
And while it’s hard not to envy a guy who has had the luxury of playing every course in Scotland, there was one setback. He saw his handicap rise from six to 11.
“I’m not sick of it I have gone off the boil” – Laurie Skuodas
“It was fun and I enjoyed doing it – but though I’m not sick of it I have gone off the boil,” he added. “However, if I see a new course crop up, I will play it in a flash.”
Laurie, who has also climbed Ben Nevis 50 times, now plans to climb the highest point on every inhabited Scottish island.
