The Florida swing begins with a fresh feel on the PGA Tour.

Honda announced last year it would end its 42-year association with the Classic in Palm Beach, with the showpiece now known as the Cognizant Classic after the IT services company stepped up as title sponsors.

It truly begins to feel like the countdown to the Masters when the best players on the US circuit head east for four tournaments in the Sunshine State.

And there is plenty to get excited about at Jack Nicklaus’s Champion Course at PGA National, with a host of top European players in the field.

Rory McIlroy, who moved to world No.1 for the first time with victory in this tournament way back in 2012, has committed to competing in the $9million event as he gears up for his latest Green Jacket tilt.

Shane Lowry, who finished runner-up behind Sepp Straka in 2022, will also tee it up alongside fellow Ryder Cup heroes Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick.

The tournament is famous for its daunting three finishing holes known as the ‘Bear Trap’, which will no doubt play a decisive factor in this year’s renewal.

Cognizant Classic betting tips

The bunkered Bet

Eric Cole 28/1

Last year’s runner-up can go one better in the Palm Beaches this time around. Cole comes into the Florida swing in red-hot form, following five top-21 finishes and a top ten at the Genesis two weeks ago. Accurate off the tee and consistently good on approach, the American won’t be far away.

Please gamble responsibly.
