Tiger Woods makes his first start of 2024 as host of the Genesis Invitational at Riviera.

The 15-time major champion claimed upon his competitive return at the Hero World Challenge in December that he would play one event a month this year.

And Woods said in a social media post that he is “excited” to play in the PGA Tour’s third signature event of the season in Los Angeles.

He made his first start since the 2022 Open at last year’s tournament, exceeding expectations by making the cut and finishing T45, despite dealing with injuries from his career-threatening car crash three years ago.

• Tiger Woods schedule: When will the 15-time major champion play next?

Every Woods step will be followed closely at Riviera, but there are plenty of other storylines as some of the world’s best do battle in the elevated $20m showpiece.

This year, the Genesis Invitational doesn’t have a cut, with a limited field competing over four tournament rounds for the title.

Jon Rahm won this event last year, but is unable to defend his crown as he is now indefinitely suspended from the PGA Tour having joined LIV Golf.

However, the world’s two highest ranked players Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will both tee it up in a stacked field that will hope to steal the limelight from the returning Woods.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Genesis Invitational…

Justin Thomas 20/1

Thomas’ T12 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open was his highest finish this season. He was only four back at Pebble Beach before the curtailed final round and has said himself he feels close to winning again. He seems to have fixed his bad swing habits that plagued his 2023 and has finished 20th and 6th in the last two renewals at Riviera.
