Joel Dahmen established himself as the people’s golfer as the understated star of Netflix’s “Full Swing” series this year.
But he has endeared himself to fans even more during a practice round ahead of the 105th PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
The laid-back American was on his final scouting mission at the tough Rochester course on Wednesday when he struck and injured a fan with an errant tee shot.

It is standard practice to sign the ball and continue after accidentally striking a fan, but Dahmen wanted to help truly take the sting out of the sore mark left on his leg.
He approached the fan, named Caleb McGuire, asking him how much beers cost at the venue in upstate New York.
Upon discovery the beverages were priced at an absurd $17 in tournament week, Dahmen proceeded to hand over a crisp $100 bill to McGuire, saying “I got your beers today.”
Shoutout to @Joel_Dahmen for hitting my calf with a tee shot today on hole #1! He proceeds to ask me how much a beer costs at the tourney and I tell him $17 a pop. He then pulls out a crispy $100 bill and says "I got your beers today." 💯 ⛳️ 🍻 pic.twitter.com/oLIenCUj5q

The extremely likeable Dahmen is remarkably self-deprecating for a PGA Tour winner who has reached a career-high 58th in the world rankings.
His assertion that “somebody’s got to be the 70th-best golfer in the world and it might as well be me” certainly struck a chord during his eye-opening segment in the popular Netflix show.
But while Dahmen may never scale the heights of some of the most elite professional golfers, he will certainly be remembered as one of the most personable.
