Kenny Hutton is set to take on some of golf’s biggest names, such as Ryder Cup stars Sam Torrance, Des Smyth and Mark James in next week’s ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship at Stoke by Nayland.

The Downfield pro is full of confidence following his win two weeks ago at the Senior PGA Professional Championship at the Foxhills Resort and says the victory couldn’t have come at a better time.

“The win at Foxhills was massive and I feel I can compete if I bring my A-game,” said Hutton.

“I’ve always had my eye on the seniors and I feel my game has matured well over the years.” – Kenny Hutton.

“The last month, however, I’ve been starting to feel a bit more relaxed and haven’t been putting so much pressure on myself.

“I’m looking forward to competing against all the guys at Stoke by Nayland. I was never in a position to have a go at tour school or anything like that as I went down the club pro route. But I’ve always had my eye on the seniors and I feel my game has matured well over the years.”

Kenny Hutton and the Scots challenge

Kenny Hutton will be joined by fellow Scots Fraser Mann, Kevin Phillips of Winterfield Golf Club in the PGA Seniors Championship, while Albert MacKenzie from Devon club Saunton also qualified after a top-20 finish at Foxhills.

Mann’s qualification sees him reunited with defending champion Paul Wesselingh. The pair were part of the Great Britain & Ireland team which triumphed over the United States at the PGA Cup in 2005, ending a 21-year drought.

‘Paul Wesselingh, the reigning European Senior Tour No.1, is seeking a third straight triumph.’

Kenny Hutton will have to battle against stiff completion at Stoke by Nayland if he is to be crowned champion. Andrew Oldcorn, who won the PGA Seniors title by nine shots in 2011 is in action, while Wesselingh, the reigning European Senior Tour No.1, is seeking a third straight triumph in the event.

Also in with a shot are 2006 and 2007 ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors champions Sam Torrance and Carl Mason, with six-time winner of the PGA Seniors trophy, Christy O’Connor, heading to Stoke by Nayland as well.

Kenny Hutton will head to the ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship at Stoke by Nayland Golf Resort, on the Suffolk and Essex border, on June 5-8, 2014.
