Scotsman goes looking for historic hat-trick with Wilson Staff

Gunning for a treble: Paul Lawrie is looking for his third win in Qatar this week with new Wilson Staff wedges

Major winner and Ryder Cup star Paul Lawrie has put the brand new Wilson Staff FG Tour Traction Control (TC) wedges into his bag this week as he looks to defend his Commercial Bank Qatar Masters title in Doha and become the first man to win the event on three occasions.

The popular Scotsman is back at Doha Golf Club this week, the scene of his 1999 and 2012 Tour victories, with the new innovative Wilson Staff wedges that incorporate an exclusive Tour-Y Groove design to help control spin on full and half shots.

“The new FG Tour TC wedges are fantastic,” said short-game expert Lawrie, who, along with Adam Scott, is one of only two multiple winners of the Qatar Masters. “I’ve been really impressed with the control they give me when attacking the flag and had no hesitation when putting them into the bag,” he added.

Lawrie’s new FG Tour TC wedges (52 & 60 degrees) line-up in his bag next to the highly-rated FG Tour irons that last season helped the former Open champion hit an impressive 72.9% of greens in regulation to clinch two European Tour titles and win almost €2 million on the Race to Dubai.
