You can add Paige Spiranac to the list of people unimpressed with comments made by Chris DiMarco during a podcast appearance earlier this week.

Speaking on the Subpar podcast, the three-time PGA Tour winner bemoaned the size of the prize purses on the PGA Tour Champions, insisting that he and other players on the over-50s circuit are hoping the tour gets bought out by LIV.

“Let’s play for a little real money out here,” said DiMarco. “I mean this is kind of a joke when we’re getting $2million. There were like seven guys last week from TPC (Sawgrass, at the $25million PLAYERS Championship) that made more money than our purses.”

The 55-year-old added that, had the opportunity to join LIV been there when he was at the height of his powers, he would have jumped ship.

“They wanted to play for a lot of money, and they deserve it,” he said. “They have had some great careers, why not go and get some money?

“I saw Graeme McDowell at the Old Memorial Pro Member, and he goes, ‘Listen, I went up to Jay Monahan and said I love the tour but I am struggling to keep my card and these guys are offering me all this money and less golf. I’m sorry, I’m going.’ And I do not blame him one bit, and I said I would have too.”

The remarks have prompted an angry backlash amongst fans of the sport, many of whom have criticised DiMarco for being greedy and out of touch.

Now, social media sensation Spiranac has shared her feelings on the matter with her army of followers.

“Chris DiMarco has made over 22 million dollars over his career on the course,” wrote Spiranac. “That number is not counting sponsorship money. Hand up if you’re tired of pro golfers complaining about money.”

The post on X (formerly Twitter) has been shared over 100 times and ‘liked’ more than 4,000 times.

The subject of DiMarco’s comments also featured prominently on this week’s episode of The bunkered Podcast.
