A new study has revealed that Brooks Koepka has made the most money per golf shot in the last five years of the PGA Championship.

Ahead of the calendar’s second major teeing off next week, Buzz Casino crunched the numbers and found the two-time champion has made £2,396 per shot.

The LIV golfer, who won back-to-back championships in 2018 and 2019, is the event’s highest earner on the list, with just over £4 million in total earnings.

It’s a meagre amount for the 33-year-old, in context to his earnings on Greg Norman’s tour, as the four-time major winner has raked in over £10.5 million in just 13 events.

However, despite qualms over LIV playing time, the same can’t be said for Koepka at the PGA, as his 1,385 shots are more than any other golfer in the study’s top ten.

Fellow American Justin Thomas, who is aiming to defend his title next week at Oak Hill, appears at number five on the list, courtesy of earning £2,481 per shot.

The 30-year-old triumphed in a play-off at Southern Hills last year from Will Zalatoris, who was only pipped in earnings by Koepka.

Zalatoris will miss this year’s 105th championship through injury but has earned £2,656 per shot from a brace of top-ten finishes in his two appearances.

Finishing in a tie for third place last year were debutants Mito Pereira and Cameron Young, who make up the rest of the top five, again joint for third in the rankings.

Collin Morikawa, who won the championship in 2020, comes next to round out the players who have earned over £2,000 per shot.

Further down the list is a trio of LIV golfers, in 2021 champion Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Paul Casey, respectively, while Tiger Woods completes the set, earning just over £1,000 per shot.

Those who have since switched to the Saudi-backed golf league were cashing in at the PGA Championship, as the top ten is split evenly among those on the PGA Tour and LIV.
