Scottie Scheffler stormed to his second Masters title with a Sunday masterclass at Augusta National.
The imperious world No.1 turned a tantalising final round into a procession with a ball-striking clinic, making seven birdies in his closing 68 to win by four shots and live up to his billing as the overwhelming pre-tournament favourite.
Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg finished runner-up on his major championship debut, while Tommy Fleetwood shared fourth with Collin Morikawa and Max Homa.
For the second time in three years, Scheffler has slipped into a Green Jacket. The Texan also collects a $3.6million winner’s cheque after following his wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players with another commanding performance.

Scheffler’s wife Meredith is due to give birth to their first child and he had repeated all week that he was prepared to leave Augusta mid-round if she had gone into labour.
“I’ll be home as quick as I can,” he said in a message to his wife in the Butler Cabin.
He added: “I can’t put into words what it is like to win here again and what it will be like to become a father for the first time.
“I did my best to stay calm and stay patient on the course and was able to make some key shots and putts to keep my round going.”

The golf world has been revelling at Scheffler, who has now emerged as one of the most dominant players in the modern era.
There’s no surprise then, that premature comparisons are already being made with the levels reached by 15-time major champion Tiger Woods.
Here’s a taste of some of the best reactions to Scheffler’s win on social media:
Scottie Scheffler is scary good right now. He could give the Season grand slam a run.

People say Scottie Scheffler is a better person than he is a golfer, as wild as this sounds it could be true.
What makes this even more remarkable is that Scottie is playing golf as well as peak Tiger Woods.

Scottie Scheffler is approaching that aura of inevitability that Tiger once occupied – just much better than everybody else. Can win without playing his A game, which he did at times this weekend. Until further notice, he’s the one to beat at every major. #themasters

I don’t think anybody will ever get to Tiger Woods level of history.
But if somebody has the skill and mentality to do it, it’s Scottie Scheffler. Just legendary stuff from him. Could watch this dude play golf for hours. pic.twitter.com/a5kRALGaB4

In the last 20 years, only one man has won the Masters more than Scottie Scheffler…
His caddie, Ted Scott.

Just got in from the golf course. The amount of head-shaking from caddies, coaches and players at what Scottie Scheffler keeps doing is fun to watch.

Inevitable.
Scottie Scheffler wins the 2024 #TheMasters in dominating fashion by 4-strokes.
It’s his 2nd major title, both being here at the Masters, and 9th overall PGA Tour victory.
Now the undisputed World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler looks to the future… like having a kid.… pic.twitter.com/8i5FdcZtrn

How good has Scottie Scheffler been this year?
Based on the standard 10% cut for wins, his caddie, Ted Scott, has already earned $1.2 million this year.
That would place him 54th out of 200 PGA Tour players and ahead of guys like Viktor Hovland and Rickie Fowler.
Not bad. pic.twitter.com/D6bcaP95Br
