As Tiger Woods wraps up the final holes of his delayed first round at the Masters, all eyes were on his playing partner Jason Day.

Since joining Filipino-owned Malbon Golf, the Australian’s threads have gone heavily under the microscope.

The 36-year-old’s ‘parachute’ pants were the talking point on day one, drawing comparisons to Woods, albeit from years ago.

Among other resemblances were MC Hammer and his father’s trousers, as Max Homa completed the group that eventually got underway at 15.54 pm (local time).

The new apparel brand on tour were prepared for the outcry, though. “Looks like that time for folks to get mad over clothes again,” the post said.

But if the first round was bad, Day’s freshly unveiled Malbon vest is doing even more rounds on social media.

Initially pointed out last week, his scripting managed to squeeze the vest in on Friday, ensuring it would make the cut.

Dressed like a ‘cigarette carton’ was a popular jibe, but we’ll let you decide for yourself.

Commenting on the look, one fan wrote: “Didn’t think it could get worse than those trousers yesterday.” Well, Malbon have exceeded expectations.

“Jason Day should be thrown off the grounds wearing that outfit,” another user posted on X, while one asked: “Who let Jason Day out the house today?”

Other reactions included: “I feel like he’s being pranked” and “just when you think Jason Day can’t wear a weirder outfit”.

Bryson DeChambeau tops the pack after the first day in Georgia after posting a seven-under-par 65, while Day sat on even par thru 14 holes before the chaos ensued.

If Day is to make the cut at the halfway stage, it appears he might be offered some reprieve from fans over his outfits. At least in the eyes of Malbon, that is.
