One of the most spectacular courses on the Costa del Sol, Alhaurin – opened in 2004 – is also one of the most challenging. Located in the mountains between Mijas and Coín, it is a tough, hilly test of golf that demands both stamina and shot-making. A word of advice: if you’re not feeling completely at ease with your driver, keep in the bag. You’ll have a long and expensive day if you spray the ball off the tee. The greens, meanwhile, have a reputation for being some of the toughest in the region. It’s a proper test of golf.
