The best players on the PGA Tour head to TPC Sawgrass for The Players Championship this week.
It’s arguably the biggest week on the US circuit, with its strongest field of the year assembled at Ponte Vedra Beach for the $25million showpiece.
This year, the tournament is commemorating its 50th year, after the great Jack Nicklaus won the inaugural tournament all the way back in 1974.

Scottie Scheffler got his name on the iconic trophy last year with a dominant win and a host of big names will challenge the world No.1’s defence in a bid to kickstart their season.
This tournament, which offers a $4.5million winner’s prize, guarantees drama. The tantalising final stretch of holes, including the world renowned par-3 17th, will determine the champion of this year’s Players.

The bunkered bet
Brian Harman 50/1
It really is difficult to look beyond Scheffler here. The world No.1 showed the rest of the field he can putt again at Bay Hill and he dominated at the Stadium Course last year. Brian Harman, however, looks good value to provide a challenge. The Open champion found something with a T12 finish last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and finished third in the 2021 renewal of The Players. As he showed at Hoylake, when his putter’s hot, he’s hard to stop.
