Royal Portrush – 16th

Formerly the 14th hole on the epic Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush, ‘Calamity Corner’ now awaits at the 16th as a result of course reconfigurations made ahead of last year’s Open. The name, as you will soon discover, could not be more appropriate. Measuring 236 yards from the back tee, it requires you to play across a deep chasm towards an elevated green. ‘Bobby Locke’s Hollow’, situated on the front left corner of the green, is where the South African is alleged to have played each day in the 1951 Open. When the fresh sea breeze whips up, it’s a par-3 in name only.
