There’s first tee horror shows, then there’s shattering the window of the clubhouse.

This amateur golfer had a new kind of nightmare altogether when his ball flew straight right off the hosel of his driver and crashed straight through the window near the tee box.

The first tee loosener is often explainable: you have just jumped out of your car, undercooked with no warm up, and you’re already staring double bogey in the face after walking off the tee.

Some of us even count our blessings walking down the first hole safe in the knowledge the ball is in play, regardless of its position as the round is safely under way.

But this player’s round was over before it began as he shanked it almost 90 degrees right and heard the brutal window smash.

Two questions immediately come to mind: Surely this was both his first and last shot of the day? And just how hefty was the bill to replace the damage?

The general consensus online was that what the golfer had pulled off was actually rather impressive.

It seemed inconceivable upon construction that the clubhouse was within striking distance of the first tee, but more fool the designer for underestimating the woes of the amateur golfer.

One golf fan reacted: “To hit the ball a perfect 90 degrees off the toe and still have it carry like 50 yards. Is this the worlds most impressive miss?”

Another agreed: “That’s legitimately impressive. Ain’t no way when building the course they could ever imagine it being hit from the first tee.”

And Callaway Golf responded: “That’s actually where you want to be for your second.”

There is surely some solace in the fact that, however bad your last round was, it surely cannot get worse than this.
