Ahead of another crucial year for the PGA Tour, its Policy Board is growing in importance.

The term PAC (Player Advisory Council) can be spotted more often than ever, as the war with LIV Golf rumbles on.

It plays a crucial role in representing the interests of professional golfers and influencing decision-making processes within the PGA Tour.

Ensuring players’ views and concerns are taken into consideration, the PAC aims to provide fairness and transparency to grow the success of golf and the PGA Tour.

So, what is the Player Advisory Council and what players are on it?

The PGA Tour Player Advisory Council

Composed of elected player representatives, the Player Advisory Council bridges the gap between players and the PGA Tour’s executive committee and board of directors.

It is made up of 16 members, with six Player Directors, who provide valuable information and feedback on a wide range of issues pertaining to the PGA Tour.

An annual Player Meeting is held with PGA Tour officials to allow players to communicate directly with key decision-makers.

The extensive meetings, which can last up to six or seven hours, were one of the reasons behind Jon Rahm admitting he would ‘absolutely not’ be on the committee.

Players in those positions also help to formulate the PGA Tour schedule, as well as reviewing and approving changes to drug testing protocols.

The council also allows players to discuss marketing and promotion strategies to provide feedback on initiatives like broadcasting rights, sponsorship agreements, and endorsement opportunities.

The PAC is open to all PGA Tour members, and members are elected through a voting process.

Each year, four players are elected to serve on the council for a two-year term, with the possibility of being re-elected for additional terms.

Former World No. 1 Rory McIlroy served as a board member and Player Director before he announced his shock resignation at the end of the 2023 DP World Tour season.

The Northern Irishman was replaced by Jordan Spieth, as members chose to elect the American.

Spieth served out the remainder of McIlroy’s time through 2024, while Peter Malnati and Webb Simpson were elected through 2025.

Kevin Streelman and Camilo Villegas were then selected by the Player Directors to run for PAC Chairman via election, and Villegas landed the role. He replaced Spieth on January 1, 2025.

Tiger Woods was named the PGA Tour’s sixth Player Director in August 2023, in response to anger at the proposed deal between the circuit and the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Currently chaired by Adam Scott, the 2025 Advisory Council consists of experienced PGA Tour pros and major champions.
