The golf courses of Slovenia are among the most beautiful in Europe.

They are set in stunning landscapes that can be found on the edge of the Pannonian Plain, and due to the short distances within Slovenia itself, you can reach almost all of the golf clubs from the capital Ljubljana within a single hour.

The golf courses in the country are surrounded by magnificent nature, set among vineyards and rolling hills, below Alpine summits, and in the idyllic Karst landscape.

Slovenia is becoming increasingly popular among golfers, not only for its fabulous golf courses but also for the wide range of quality hotels to stay in during the visit.

Undoubtedly the best club in the country is Royal Bled Golf. As it also prides itself as being the oldest and biggest course in Slovenia, it is one of those must play courses in Europe.

Royal Bled can be located within a 30 minute drive from the capital of Ljubljana and compromises a total of 27 holes across two different courses – the 18-hole King’s Course and the nine-hole Lake Course. Whether it’s a full 18 holes of luxurious golf or a quick nine to test the waters, Royal Bled offers it all and makes this course a true hidden gem of European golf.

INTRODUCING… THE BEST DEAL IN GOLF – FACT!

Royal Bled was originally formed in 1937, on the recommendation of the Yugoslav Royal Family, but the King’s Course was largely abandoned after the Second World War, undergoing a complete redesign in 1972.

Local dignitaries and nobility are believed to have played at the course, including the Duke of Kent. In 2015 an extensive renovation of both the Kings Course and Kings House was undertaken. The recent changes have been recognised and endorsed by the royal family and with this the golf club is now known as Royal Bled.

Slovenia Kings Course

What draws most golfers to the King’s Course is the breathtaking scenery. Enveloped by the dramatic mountains and sweeping valleys of the Alps, it also offers perfectly manicured surfaces, a challenging layout and the rare opportunity to play golf in complete tranquillity.

The town of Bled has flourished in recent years in terms of tourism, with its immense natural beauty and renowned for its mild climate and thermal lake water

Royal Bled is also part of IMG Prestige, a collection of some of the world’s leading golf clubs and resorts. There is an IMG Prestige club in every continent, and other clubs in the programme include Le Golf National, Trump Turnberry and Walton Heath.

Other courses to play in Slovenia include Golf Otocec, Diners Golf Ljubljana and Lipica, or perhaps visit neighbouring Austria or Italy for another great golf experience.
