Winter golf stay and play offer at Trump Turnberry

Turnberry Robert Bruce

One of Scotland's finest traditional links is offering numerous stay and play offers this winter.

Since 2014, Trump Turnberry is a markedly improved golf resort. The clubhouse has been revamped, with new locker rooms, a new dining area, and a new pro shop, which won ‘Pro Shop of the Year’ at the 2018 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards. The Wee Links pitch and putt course has been redesigned while there are all-new practise facilities to accompany the already first-class facilities.

The Ailsa, one of the most popular courses on the Open rota, has been given a major overhaul but arguably the biggest success story of this multi-million pound investment is the new King Robert the Bruce Course. The old Kintyre wasn’t just touched up; it was wholly reinvented.

Course architect Martin Ebert has worked wonders. The first six and final six holes have had every bunker rebuilt, greens have been improved, gorse has been removed and water and sandy wasteland areas have been introduced, mirroring changes made to the Ailsa. Once you’ve enjoyed a memorable experience out on the course, the hotel provides the perfect place to relax for the remainder of your stay.

True to its history, the pace of life at the five-star venue is unhurried thanks to the relaxing atmosphere bestowed upon it by the spectacular rooms and sensual spa. Guests at Trump Turnberry can enjoy the perfect spa break in an oasis of tranquillity and relaxation. Set amongst 800 acres of beautiful Scottish countryside along the Atlantic coastline, The Spa at Turnberry offers an environment of pure relaxation, perfect for enjoying treatments that soothe and refresh both body and mind.

Twelve serene treatment rooms offer the perfect environment for surrendering to utter relaxation. The rest of the facilities are equally inviting, with a sauna, steam room and luxurious lounges for unwinding before or after your treatments. At the heart of the spa is a delightful 65-foot heated indoor swimming pool, from which you can gaze at breathtaking sea views while enjoying its underwater lighting and ambient music. If you’re feeling more energetic, visit the adjoining fitness centre.

You can sign up for the Winter Package for £395, which includes ten rounds on the King Robert the Bruce - available Sunday to Thursday throughout winter. Use these yourself or bring friends, using a maximum of four rounds per day. Importantly, there’ll be full tees and greens and no mats at all times.

• Historic Scottish club votes to approve women members

Alternatively, you could take up a Winter Academy Membership, available from November 1, which will allow you to develop your game before you take on the trials and tribulations of 18 holes.

Trump Turnberry is the perfect place for a ‘stay and play’ weekend away this winter and, with the terrific offers available, there’s no better time to check out one of the best golf resorts in the world.
