OLYMPIC GOLF | JUSTIN ROSE

No sooner had Justin Rose secured the first Olympic golf gold medal in 112 years than the world's top golfers took to Twitter to congratulate him and celebrate his superb victory in Rio.

We'll get to them soon enough but, first, what about this class selfie from the man himself?

Unsurprisingly, this has already become Rose' new Twitter avatar. Meantime, his long-standing caddie, Mark 'Fooch' Fulcher, also got in on the Twitter action. This is quite brilliant...

Many had criticised golf's reintroduction to the Olympics, some saying that the top players simply weren't interested in it. The reaction to Rose' win would suggest otherwise...

The congratulatory messages weren't just restricted to golfers. One Direction's Niall Horan - a good friend of Rose - also sent him a 'well done' tweet...

British tennis ace Jamie Murray - the doubles specialist and brother of two-time Olympic gold medallist Andy - also had this to say...

Fresh from appearing on Match Of The Day in his pants, footballer-turned-presenter Gary Lineker also showed his appreciation for Rose' efforts.

Meanwhile, this video former England and British & Irish Lions rugby player Matt Dawson posted of his kids celebrating Rose' win is just brilliant...
