When you’re playing a course for the first time, having a GPS watch at hand is a huge advantage. That's why we've compiled the best GPS watches of 2024.

A GPS watch is an invaluable bit of kit on the golf course. These can give you the distances to the front, middle and back of the green, but that's only scratching the surface. Not only will you get distances, but many of these options offer maps of the hole you're playing, giving you a bird's eye view of the challenges that lie ahead.

As well as that, some options allow you to track your stats on the course, something that is going to be very useful for those really looking to improve. If you're looking for that functionality, then the Shot Scope X5 is a cracking option. We've used the Shot Scope app to track stats, and it's a real game changer. They're not just made for the golf course either, with many suitable for day to day use away from the course.

There are a lot of choices when it comes to the latest and greatest GPS watches, but we’ve made it easier for you. Here are the best GPS watches of 2024.

GolfBuddy Aim W12
A stylish, super comfortable and easy to use watch that could be worn all day

PROS

  • Looks great, particularly the premium strap
  • Very easy to navigate
  • Slope feature is a great addition

CONS

  • We've not found any issues yet
Available for £249.99 from GolfBuddy

A name that you might not be familiar with, but if you're in the market for a GPS golf watch, GolfBuddy should definitely be on your radar. The Aim W12 is their latest release and we think it's quality.
Straight from the box, it's easy to use and the interface is incredibly intuitive. We really do think you could wear this away from the golf course too, which is in no small part thanks to the very premium feeling leather strap. It has all the usual features you would expect from a GPS watch, but the Fly Over feature is particularly useful. This, as the name suggests, allows you to get a bird's eye view of the hole, meaning you'll know where you should be going, even if you've not played the course before.
Very lightweight and easy to wear too, which is a big plus if you don't tend to wear a watch on the course. Well worthy of its top rating.

In our opinion, this is the best looking GPS watch on the market. If that's something you look for, then the Shot Scope G5 will really appeal to you.

However, it's more than just a pretty face. The G5 offers players an easy way to get their distances on the course. These include to the front, middle and back of the green, as well as the carry distance required to clear any hazards you're going to encounter in your round. We think this watch has taken it to another level, with the ability to track all your shots and track over 100 stats after your round, including your strokes gained compared to other Shot Scope users.

The Shot Scope X5 really is brilliant thanks to the amount of features you can access during the round. You have dynamic yardages, green view, lay-up yardages, distances to dog-legs, front and back carry distance to hazards and a digital scorecard.

But where this really comes into its own is the fact that you have the ability to track each shot you hit through your round with sensor tags that sit in your grips.
