If you’re looking to buy a GPS watch that you can use straight away, but also want something to which you can add your own personal touch, then this is for you. Here’s our Shot Scope G5 review…

Shot Scope have always been incredibly innovative with their technology. We saw that in their premium X5 GPS watch, which tracks all your shots and gives you more than 100 different stats including stroke gained.

However, if you are looking at a GPS watch for the first time, price sensitive, or are looking to replace your current GPS watch then the new G5 is the perfect option.

I have been a GPS convert these past few months, and now I can’t play without one, so I was excited to test the G5 from Shot Scope.

The one thing that is brilliant about this watch is that you can add your own personal touch to it. You can choose two watch straps from 12 colour options, and you have the choice between two colours for the watch casing as well, so you could play with a “new” watch for every round, if you like!

The screen is big and clear, it weighs in at just 42 grams, and it can be used as an everyday watch as well with a variety of clock faces from which to choose. It looks smart, so it’s perfect for all round use.

If, like me, you’re a touch impatient and like to get going with your round without the fuss of connecting to an app and other things these gizmos generally require, then you’re in luck. The G5 is ready to go straight out the box. Once you’ve chosen the straps to put on it, of course!

It’s incredibly easy to navigate the software too. When you get to the ‘play golf’ screen you press select and it will search for your course. Once it’s found it hit the button again and the first hole will pop up with your yardages to the front, middle and back of the green. Just two clicks and you’re away. It’s so straight forward and easy to set up that even I didn’t need to read the instructions.

As well as the three green distances, it also features lay-up yardages, front and back distances for hazards, and dogleg run outs, which are superb as you can select through the screens to see the distances to the different points of the hole in order to pick the right club from wherever you are.

The Shot Scope G5 has 36,000 preloaded courses and, at £149.99, is an absolute steal for something that will help you manage your way around the golf course and lower your scores.

The best entry-level golf GPS watch on the market? It’ll be hard to beat…
