Malbon Golf has certainly made an impact in the golf apparel space over the last few months, and now they’re branching into the GPS golf watch business.

The brand, who are now equipping the likes of Jason Day and Charley Hull on the golf course, made a shock return to the world of golf gear at the end of last year.

It was the Australian PGA Tour star, Day, who made the biggest stir with his new look. While some loved it, others were more sceptical of Day’s new get-up. However, there’s no doubt that the gear was eye catching. So, it should be no surprise that their latest release is going to turn heads too. Malbon are now moving into the already crowded GPS watch world.

Not only are they creating a new watch, but they’re doing it with luxury Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer. And it will certainly stand out on the golf course.

This is actually Tag Heuer’s third golf specific watch, with the Connected range having been in place since 2015.

According to Tag Heuer’s website, The TAG Heuer Connected Watch x Malbon is equipped with a pulsometer and golf-specific apps. As you would expect from Malbon, it comes with custom straps, with the most striking one a green design.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, George Ciz, who heads up the marketing department at Tag Heuer, explained how the collaboration came about.

“Frédéric Arnault (former CEO of Tag Heuer) is an avid golfer, and he’s very well connected. He and Stephen Malbon golf. And they thought it was a good idea for the two brands to get together and do a cool project.

“We have been involved with golf for a long, long time. Tiger Woods was a Tag Heuer ambassador for a long time. We actually made a very special mechanical watch for him, the 2005 Tiger Woods Professional Golf Watch. Yes, motorsport is the heart of Tag Heuer, absolutely. But there are parts of the heart where other sports exist. Golf is one of them.

“High performance with speed and precision – that’s what golf is. So it’s a nice connection to the brand. It was natural that we went to it. And we felt like the technology was right with the Connected watch to do something special in golf. So that’s why we doubled down.”

Now, I know what you’re thinking, how much is this piece going to set me back? Well, you can pre-order one for £2,050. If you fancy getting your hands on one, it’s going to be available from February 24.

We think we’re going to stick with our Shot Scope for now.
