The interest in the world of golf sponsorship has peaked, and trend-shifters Malbon Golf appear to be capitalising.

Former world No. 1 Jason Day signed an eyebrow-raising deal with the Philippines-based brand last week, after his seven-year, $100 million deal with Nike expired at the end of 2023.

And it appears he might be the first of many, as three more tour pros have joined the Australian, by turning heads with a retro look.

Debuting the new style at The Sentry, Day said: “There have been times that I’d be standing on the first tee and look over to see another golfer in essentially the same outfit as me.

“I’m excited to be able to go outside of the box and wear something that’s dramatically different than what everyone is used to seeing in golf today.”

While the attire divided opinion in Hawaii, fans will now see a lot more of it.

LPGA pros Charley Hull and Jeongeun Lee (Lee6), as well as Champions Tour player Jesper Parnevik, have joined the brand’s fold.

Co-founder Stephen Malbon admitted his new female ambassadors are the right fit for the brand, saying: “The other girls are just training, training, training… but 6 [Lee] likes to go shopping and really cares about that world. Charley does as well.

“She’s [Hull] definitely into showing who she is, being fit and showing off the body she works so hard at.”

Meanwhile Parnevik, a two-time Ryder Cup winner, was first contacted by the brand at the end of 2022 to be the face of Malbon’s Yacht Club collection.

“Jesper is one of the most revolutionary golf icons alive,” Malbon said.

“He used to come out wearing suspenders and ties. He’s eclectic, creative and — in a very positive way — the best weirdo I’ve ever met.”

And now that the 58-year-old is back playing on the Champions Tour, he added, the Swede will be wearing “statement pieces” from the brand, which Malbon said will be “disruptive in golf again.”

It marks the streetwear-inspired golf brand’s first moves outside of the PGA Tour, as rumours ramp up over who could be next.

Tony Finau, who is still under contract with Nike, is good friends with Malbon, who explored the possibility of working with the American.

Despite talk linking tiger Woods with the Malbon family, Stephen has admitted that chatter is ‘absolutely not true’.
