The traditional golfing holiday destinations of Spain and Portugal now have serious competition for the holiday-maker’s pound or Euro with the re-emergence of Turkey as a top-quality choice.

Turkey has everything the golfer looks for in a great golfing destination starting with the climate, which is perfect for golf from March to November although it can get quite warm in July and August.

It would be difficult to find better quality accommodation as the main golfing area around Belek has numerous five-star Hotels that specialise in providing the very best service for their visitors.

As for the golf courses they stand in comparison with the majority of courses in Continental Europe. Antalya airport is just 25 minutes away and there are flights available all year round from most major UK airports.

All of the above are reasons enough for choosing Turkey for your next golfing holiday but, when you then add in the fact that the majority of the hotels offer an all-inclusive package, it’s hardly surprising that it’s such a popular destination. It’s very appealing to golfers, especially larger groups, to know that everything is paid for in advance and its very difficult for the more traditional golfing destinations to compete on a value for money basis.

Cornelia Deluxe New

The five-star Cornelia De Luxe Golf Resort is truly a luxury retreat with outstanding facilities available for its guests. There are a number of room options available from the garden view rooms right up to the spectacular Junior Suites and with 12 bars and restaurants offering the finest local and international cuisine there is no shortage of places to take advantage of the all-inclusive option.

There is a well-equipped spa and wellness centre with a wide range of treatments and therapies available. The Faldo Golf Course, which is attached to the Cornelia’s sister Hotel has 27 exciting and challenging holes that wind through the adjacent pine forest presenting golfers with an unforgettable experience.

Sirene New

One of the most popular five-star hotels is the Sirene Resort, which has 440 modern, well fitted out rooms. Again, there is no shortage of places to eat and drink with 6 restaurants and 6 bars in the Resort.

There are excellent facilities for the active guest with numerous swimming pools, tennis courts and a spa and gym. There are two golf courses on the resort, the Pasha and the Sultan both of which take advantage of the natural surroundings as the fairways wind through the pine woods and around the water features.

Titanic Deluxe

There are a similar number of sporting activities available at the Titanic Deluxe Hotel as well as football pitches, Olympic-sized swimming pool and gymnasium. For those wanting a more relaxing time there is a very good spa where you can take advantage of a wide range of treatments and therapies.

On-site, the Titanic Golf Club has 27 holes with three loops of nine holes offering a contrasting experience. The first nine, called the River, as its name suggests, overlooks and utilises the river in its design, whilst the second nine is more links-like, overlooking the Mediterranean. Finally, the fairways on the Forest loop as the name implies wind through the native trees and vegetation.

INTRODUCING… THE BEST DEAL IN GOLF

The Sueno Golf Hotel, pictured top, is in an enviable position for golfers as it is alongside two Championship golf courses and is only 400 metres from the beach. The 147 rooms are furnished in a modern style with muted autumnal colours and are generous in size. They have a seating area to relax in and a balcony overlooking the golf courses or the lakes that nearly surround the property.

There is a large wellness centre where you can obtain a full range of treatments and relaxation techniques and for the more energetic there is a well-equipped gym. The two golf courses are amongst the best in the area with the Pines course stretching to over 7000 yards from the back tees with several water hazards to contend with.

The Dunes course, whilst not quite as long, is still a challenge and the final hole with its island green will test both the nerves and your skill level.

It’s hardly surprising that the great hotels and courses, plus the value that is on offer with the all-inclusive package 2019, has seen Turkey go through a tremendous surge in popularity.

This looks set to continue into 2020 and if you are thinking of travelling there it is vital to book as early as possible before the courses are sold out.
