Prospective buyers of the Nike Jordan 1 Low “Travis Scott” golf shoe will be required to demonstrate how far they can hit a golf ball, before being allowed to purchase the shoes.

In a highly unusual move, Pitch London, a dedicated golf destination in the capital, will give golfers two attempts to hit the ball a certain distance, before being allowed to purchase the limited edition shoes.

Men will have two attempts to hit the ball over 200 yards, while ladies will need to pass the 150-yard mark to qualify.

The scheme is in place in an attempt to ensure the shoes are bought by golfers rather than resellers.

Only 72 pairs of the shoes, which have been designed in collaboration with Texas rapper Travis Scott, will be available in person, with an online raffle slated to take place at a later date. The in-store event will take place on October 13, with spaces already sold out.

It’s a move that seems to be a popular one with shoe enthusiasts on X, with one saying “Translation: If you want the shoe, actually play golf.”

Another added: “This store is doing it right!”

However, not everyone is a fan of the scheme, with one X user saying: “At 10am on a Friday. Cause you know, golfers don’t work and resellers don’t golf either. What a joke.”

The shoes, which cost £154.95, will also come with a commemorative shoe design tote bag.

It’s not the first venture into the golf shoe world for Travis Scott. At this year’s US Open, Phil Mickelson was spotted wearing a pair of Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low sneakers that had been customised into golf shoes.
