New Balance golf shoes 2024 review

There’s a good chance you’ve worn a pair of New Balance trainers before. If you liked them, then you’ll love the brand’s offering for the golf course.

Featuring spiked and spikeless options, New Balance say this range offers versatility for men and women golfers.

The First Look

I’ve always been a fan of the way New Balance trainers look, so naturally, I like the look of these. Golf shoes that look like trainers are commonplace on the course now, so if you’re going to opt for a pair of them, why not go for one of the most iconic trainer brands on the market?

Personally, I’m one of the few in the bunkered team who prefers to wear traditional, spiked shoes on the course, so I might opt for something else in a tournament. But, I know that these will appeal to a huge range of players.

The Tech

There are 11 models, made up of 27 stylish colourways in this range. All of these have been developed using New Balance’s advanced footwear technologies, for a seamless combination of fashion, function and form, which New Balance say will keep golfers one step ahead of the game.

Spiked Designs

Headlining the extensive range is the 997 Spiked model, with a waterproof microfibre leather upper and Absorb 10mm drop midsole that provides lightweight cushioning and exceptional responsiveness. The NDurance rubber outsole is designed to deliver traction and stability, while responding to the natural motion of the foot. It is available in a standout White/Navy colourway.

The Heritage model is a nod to classic New Balance footwear styles and features FastTwitch 3.0 Pulsar cleats on the stable NDurance outsole to deliver a super sturdy grip and enhanced durability, plus a low profile for all-day comfort. The waterproof upper enables golfers to wear the shoe in wet weather conditions.

The vibrant Brighton style comes in a men’s shoe in White/Red and Black colourways, plus a chic women’s version in White and Black/Gum colour options. Offering long-lasting comfort, the shoe features a solid construction through by combining the NDurance outsole and DynaSoft® midsole with a waterproof microfibre leather upper to keep feet dry.

Spikeless Designs

The trendy 997 SL men’s shoe offers many of the same features as its spiked counterpart with the addition of a strategically designed spikeless outsole to provide a solid stance. A great option to wear in everyday life as well on the golf course, the fashion forward shoe comes in the White/Navy, Grey/Navy & Grey/Orange colour combinations to suit different aesthetic tastes and style preferences.

Among the other spikeless waterproof styles is the 574 Greens V2 shoe for both men and women golfers. Available in four distinctive colourways, it features a Dynasoft 10mm drop midsole to provide a lightweight plush comfort and an ultra-responsive walking experience.

The ‘smart’ rubber outsole of the Fresh Foam Contend V2 shoe features exclusive geometric shapes that vary in size and shape and highlighted by pressure mapping colours in the key performance zones. It is available for both men and women in several refreshing colours.

The lightweight Fresh Foam ROAV is a perfect summer golf shoe that features a lightweight and highly breathable construction to keep feet cool during the round. The cushioned Fresh Foam midsole and soft CUSH insole deliver instant comfort out of the box, while the NDurance spikeless outsole offers increased traction and grip.

The bunkered Verdict

We’ve not had a chance to get these out on the course yet, but, like we say, they look the part, and it’s clear that New Balance has put a lot of effort into making these ready for the golf course, while keeping that classic look.

These will be perfect for the golfer who wants to get out on the course for a quick nine holes after work, or simply a player who doesn’t want to change their shoes before or after their round.
