After 27 years of Tiger and Nike came to an end at the start of this year, Tiger Woods announced a new apparel line called Sun Day Red. Here’s what we know so far.

The brand will fall under the TaylorMade umbrella and Woods announced it on the Monday (Tuesday morning time in the UK) before the Genesis Invitational, which will be his first start of 2024.

Unlike a lot of things in the golf world these days, Sun Day Red was kept pretty well under wraps until the press conference, barring a few teasing tweets from Woods himself.

As you can imagine, with a new brand from the world’s best known golfer comes a lot of questions. We’ve done our best to answer some of the biggest ones.

First up…

Why is it called Sun Day Red?

There’s a few strands to this answer. If you’ve read this far then you probably know that Woods is iconic for wearing red on Sundays, but why is the word ‘Sunday’ split into ‘Sun Day?’

A few reasons have been given, with the Rule of Three being a key one. Splitting the phrase Sunday Red into three short words carries more impact. A news release on the brand’s new website explains all…

“The word mark appears as 3 words for a simple reason: there is a special power in 3’s. Calling it Sun Day Red was a fun way for us to create something completely different and unexpected. Born from a love for being outside in the sun, the joy of playing golf during the day, and a special red being the brand’s power colour – as soon as Sun Day Red was placed on a garment for the first time, it just looked perfect.”

So there you have it!

What about the Sun Day Red logo?

You might think this is just a nod to Tiger, but there’s a little Easter egg in there too.

In the tiger, there’s 15 stripes (yes, we counted them too) , which are there to represent Tiger’s 15 major championship wins. And yes, he did clarify that if he wins another major, that logo will be getting redesigned. Clever, right?

What apparel can we expect from Sun Day Red?

A bit of everything, by the looks of it. The man himself came out wearing a cashmere hoodie and a black cap, both emblazoned with his new logo. As well as that, there was polo shirts and mock necks on display too.

On the website, they also say that we can expect luxury logo tees, fleeces and hats, for those who want to take the Sun Day Red brand off the golf course.

When will Sun Day Red be available?

We’ve still got a while to wait, with May 1 2024 slated as the release date.

Will it be expensive?

We’ve not had any indication of prices yet, but since this is linked with TaylorMade, we’re hopeful it won’t be too pricey. If we find out any more details of prices of Sun Day Red, we’ll be sure to update you.

Is Sun Day Red just clothes?

Nope, there’s plenty more to go along with it. Most notably, we can expect golf shoes in the range. Here’s a closer look at them. They’ve got some pretty neat branding, as well as the logo printed on the sole of the shoes.

Whether Tiger will wear them on the course remains to be seen. It would certainly be a big change from the FootJoy’s we’ve come accustomed to over the last two years.

As well as the shoes, we’re going to see headcovers, gloves and even small things like ball markers in the range.

Will it just be a men’s range?

It doesn’t sound like it. The website states that we’re going to get a women’s and junior’s range as well. Whether that’s ready for May 1, remains to be seen.
