It’s new issue day here at bunkered, and we have a cracker to get the year underway.

This year, we’re moving from eight issues to ten, which means the first one will be hitting the shelves today.

On the fence about whether to venture out to pick up a copy? We think you’ll want to nip to the shops and get reading.

• Dustin Johnson picks up injury

If you’re looking to get your year off to a flier on the golf course, find out about the new gear hitting the pro shops, or read some exclusive interviews, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s some reasons why you should buy our new issue…

Dr Golf

Our cover star and the latest member of our Performance Panel, Dr Zach Gould is here to get you firing on all cylinders for the new season. The man behind Dr Golf has easy ways to get into golf fitness that you can do from the comfort of your living room. Our man Lewis Fraser went to his native south Wales to spend a day with him, to find out how you can make gains in your game.

New gear

It is what we like to call New Gear Szn. That’s a big deal here at bunkered, as our office has been full to the brim with the latest drivers, irons and balls. You name it, it’s been here. Our Gear Editor, James Tait, has been down at the driving range testing it all out, and he’s compiled it all into our new-look gear section. Oh, and did we mention there’s a new Pro V1 out? We’ve got the lowdown inside.

Sex toys?!

Yes, you read that correctly. Sex toys. Richard Longhurst used to work for Lovehoney, now, he’s in the golf industry and has a handy little gadget that he calls the Pocket Timer. It’s made to help golfers know when their three minutes to look for a golf ball is up. Naturally, we had to track him down and find out what it’s all about.

• Pat Perez shows off flashy new car

Matt Baldwin

The DP World Tour player exclusively spills the beans on what life is like out on tour, his favourite courses, and, of course, the toppings he likes to see on his pizzas.

John E. Morgan

The tour-pro-turned-pundit is one of the biggest personalities in golf, so we tracked him down for a chat. He tells us about his First and Lasts, and has a right good laugh in doing so.

Gary Player

In between hitting all the new gear, James Tait had the pleasure of chatting with Gary Player, and we’ve brought you the very best stuff from the 87-year-old. The South African talks the modern game, racking up more air miles than any other sportsperson and beating his age on the golf course. It’s an interesting read to say the least.

Travel

We’ve got everything from Coventry to Cambodia in our travel section this issue. You can get the inside knowledge on where to go for a golf break in the Midlands, as well as some more far-flung destinations.

Maverick McNealy

As well as our excellent Performance Panel, we’ve also got some tips from the tour in our instruction section this year. First up, Maverick McNealy talks about getting ready for big events, and how to control your irons on a breezy day.

Competitions

Last but not least, we’ve got three cracking competitions to try your luck with. You could be heading to Aberdeenshire to take on three of Scotland’s best courses in the Aberdeen Golf Links Pro Am, jetting off to Malaga for a holiday with Macdonald Hotels, or bagging yourself a pair of Duca del Cosma golf boots. Good luck!
