A win in the Dominican Republic was Billy Horschel’s eighth on the PGA Tour and his first since the Memorial in 2022.
The American missed out on competing in the ‘Signature’ RBC Heritage but made amends with a first triumph in an opposite field event.
He arrived at Puntacana after missing the cut at the Valero Texas Open but backed up his opening two rounds with a scintillating weekend display.
Four birdies in his opening five holes on Sunday put Horschel out front, as he carded a championship-winning 63 to steal the spoils.
The tournament had another storyline brewing, with Wesley Bryan – who finished second to Horschel – attempting to go wire-to-wire on a sponsor’s exemption.
Bryan had to settle for runners-up but, with his best finish on tour since 2017, took home over $400,000.
