Royal Musselburgh

A warm welcome is guaranteed at Royal Musselburgh which, situated on the outskirts of Prestonpans, is recognised as the fifth oldest golf club in the world, dating back to 1774.

Located at the start of the famous stretch of golf courses on the East Lothian coast, this James Braid designed beauty comes alive heading down the stretch, with the 14th and 16th holes exceptional par-3s.

Only four of the 14 par-4 holes are longer than 400 yards while the solitary par-5 on the card, the 477-yard ninth named ‘Jimmy Braid’, offers an excellent birdie chance.

The 18th, meanwhile, needs a tee shot of at least 238 yards to clear the slope in the centre of the fairway and give you a look at the green. But there could be danger with your approach, as a slice can have you bouncing your ball off the clubhouse!
