Greg Norman has congratulated Brooks Koepka on an “impressive” win at Oak Hill, while saying LIV Golf players “belong” at major championships.

The LIV Golf chief took to Twitter to toast the 33-year-old’s fifth major championship and third US PGA Championship, which he won with a dominant final round display at the Rochester venue.

While applauding Koepka’s win, the CEO of the Saudi-backed golf league listed the stats behind what he sees as a big week for the breakaway circuit and its players.

• Michael Block hungry for more success

“Congrats Brooks Koepka your comeback has been impressive. I am so proud of you,” he said.

“As for LIV Golf League players they belong and the the majors and golf knows. Three LIV Golfers in the top ten, five in the top 20, 11 made the cut,” said the 68-year-old.

Speaking in his press conference after the win, however, Koepka said that he hadn’t been in touch with the Aussie yet, explaining the only person he had called after the win was his wife.

“I called my wife, and that’s it,” said the new world No.13.

“That’s the only person I’m really interested in talking to. I texted — my boys are here, and I’m just hanging with them and talking to my wife, and I can feel my phone buzzing even as we’re talking right now. Last I looked, I think there was 600 text messages. I’ll go through them.”

When asked about whether the win will help to validate the tour that Koepka now plays on, he was more focused on his own achievement.

“Yeah, I definitely think it helps LIV,” he said. “But I’m more interested in my own self right now, to be honest with you.”

Koepka’s win takes him into illustrious company, with five major titles to his name. In an impressive final round, he held off Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler, amongst others, finishing on a total of nine-under-par for the week.
