Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfer in history and has won numerous major championships.
He has won golf’s biggest competitions a total of 15 times, and has completed the career grand slam on numerous occasions. For a number of years, seeing him in red in the final group on Sunday was a near-certainty.
As of 2022, he is second on the all-time list behind Jack Nicklaus, who has 18 major titles.

Woods’ first major victory came in 1997 when he was just 21 years old at that year’s Masters. He won that title in record-breaking fashion, finishing an incredible 12 shots clear of the rest of the field.
More majors followed that initial success and by the end of the 2000 season, he had completed the career grand slam.
In 2001, Woods completed his famous Tiger Slam. Already in possession of the US Open, Open and US PGA titles from the previous year, he won the Masters once again to become the first man to hold all four major titles at once.
He enjoyed particular success in the early years of the millenium, winning at least one major every year from 1999 to 2002.
Woods also has a particular fondness for St Andrews, which he has previously described as his “favourite course”. The Home of Golf delivered two of his three Opens in 2000 and 2005, with the third coming in 2006 at Royal Liverpool.
• Where did Tiger Woods get his first win?
In 2019, 11 years after his last major victory and following injuries and personal problems, he finally returned to the major winners’ circle at the Masters.
Overall he has five green jackets, four US PGA titles, three US Opens and three Open championships.
