He has established himself as one of the top players on the PGA Tour – but who is Matt Fitzpatrick’s caddie?
Carrying Matt Fitzpatrick’s bag is legendary looper Billy Foster, who helped Fitzpatrick to his first major triumph at Brookline.
The Yorkshireman became Fitzpatrick’s caddie in 2019 following his split with compatriot Lee Westwood, and the pair have enjoyed plenty of success.

Who is Matt Fitzpatrick’s caddie Billy Foster?
Matt Fitzpatrick’s caddie is Billy Foster.
Billy Foster is one of the most recognised caddies on tour but was already renowned for his work with Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Thomas Bjork, Darren Clarke and Tiger Woods.
His experience on the biggest stage has no doubt aided Fitzpatrick.
Foster began caddying for South African, Hugo Baiocchi, before taking Gordon Brand Junior’s bag to get his first taste of the Ryder Cup action.
His caddying career has spanned over 40 years, but Fitzpatrick’s first major success was also Foster’s, despite plenty of near misses with some golf’s greatest players.

However, Foster deserves his recognition as he has racked up more than 40 wins on the bag and has been to 14 Ryder Cups and a Presidents Cup.
Fitzpatrick and Foster are well-known for having a humorous relationship on and off the course, but the caddie has also described his fellow Englishman as ‘the best professional I have ever worked for’.
After the 2022 PGA Championship, Fitzpatrick told fans where he has best developed since having Foster on his bag.
He said: “I think that’s the one thing that I’ve learnt more and more certainly over the last few years, particularly with Billy on the bag as well, is just to stay patient and the birdies will come.”
However, in 2025, veteran Foster is taking a step back from full-time caddie duties.
Foster told The Mirror that he will caddie part-time for Fitzpatrick, sharing the role with Dan Parratt.
“I am going to do a job share,” Foster said. “With 26, 27 events every year, transatlantic, it is catching up with me so I will share with Dan Parratt who has caddied for about 15 years.
“I will be doing about 13, 14 tournaments whatever it ends up being. I might do an odd couple in Europe with different people, we will see.”
