World ranking and FedEx Cup points are why Matt Wallace gets out of bed every morning, not money, he has revealed.
In an interview with James Corrigan of the Telegraph, Wallace claimed he still can’t get his head around the choices of LIV golfers, including one of his friends.
He said: “I saw my mate Talor Gooch has earned £19 million on LIV now or something.
“Great for him. But there was an article online saying that his decision must be justified, and I look at it and go, what’s justified about it?
“He got no world ranking points, no FedEx Cup points, nothing from it apart from a cheque and a trophy.”

Despite winning in Adelaide and Singapore last month, the American must finish in the top 15 at
this week’s PGA Championship to qualify for the US Open.
That remains a huge factor behind Wallace’s playing decisions, as he admits to turning down a switch to the Saudi-backed golf league in its initial developments.
The 33-year-old ‘was told to pluck a number out of the air’ as LIV Golf tried to lure him in, but Wallace ‘didn’t even understand the concept’.
Declining in the world rankings was not on the cards for the Englishman, though. He said: “I love the highs and lows of golf.
“On that Tour, you can’t miss a cut and experience those lows. You’re just taking the easy road, which I don’t have any qualms about with some of the players.”
After claiming his maiden PGA Tour title at the Corales Puntacana Championship in March, Wallace has missed the cut in his last four starts.
He has faced a severe tumble down the rankings in recent years, from a high of 23rd in July 2019, to 116th as of this week.
Wallace is in the field for this week’s PGA Championship at Oak Hill and tied for third place in the major four years ago.
