The virtual indoor golf league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy has unveiled a new launch date for 2025.
TGL, a six-team league of PGA Tour stars played on a high-tech simulator, was due to launch this year but was postponed when the roof of the tech-infused arena at the custom-built SoFi Center in Florida collapsed after a power failure.
Now, TGL will make its debut on January 7 2025, with the first three matches scheduled on consecutive Tuesdays and broadcast at primetime on ESPN in the United States.

Alongside Woods, McIlroy and Fowler, the new league will feature more big names on the PGA Tour, including Justin Thomas, Adam Scott and Shane Lowry.
Four of the six teams have been named as Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Los Angeles Golf Club and Jupiter Links Golf Club. Two other teams based on New York and San Francisco have yet to be officially announced.
“As we plan the 2025 launch of TGL presented by SoFi, we now have the first three Tuesdays in January circled to introduce sports fans to this new form of team golf,” said Mike McCarley, the CEO and founder of TMRW Sports.

“January is a tremendous time of year for fans looking for prime-time sports and TGL’s launch will complement the start of the PGA Tour season and take advantage of ESPN’s promotional machine across their coverage of the NFL and college football playoffs.”
New design plans for the SoFi Center which will host the TGL action have now been released. The arena, located on the Palm Beach State College campus in Palm Beach Gardens, will have a steel-supported structure and hold up to 1,500 fans.
The simulator itself is 20 times larger than a standard simulator screen, and players will transition to the “GreenZone” short game complex once they are within 50 yards of a hole.
Unique rules for the new league include a 40-second shot clock for each shot and allotted team timeouts to reset the clock with no penalty.
