American Brian Harman takes a five-shot lead into the weekend of The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool.

The 36-year-old left-hander is bidding to improve on his tied-sixth finish last year at St Andrews and win his maiden major.

Twice a winner on the PGA Tour – most recently in 2017 – Harman carded a six-under 65 early on Friday to get to 10-under-par before sitting back and watching as the chasing pack failed to make any significant ground on him.

Local favourite Tommy Fleetwood is his nearest challenger on five-under, with Ryder Cup hopeful Sepp Straka a further shot adrift.

Shubhankar Sharma, Min Woo Lee and Jason Day are all three-under.

Much, though, can change, particularly with grisly weather forecast for the weekend.
