Rafa Cabrera-Bello was not having a good day at the office in the first round of the DP World Tour’s Made in HimmerLand.

The Spaniard, who impressed on his sole Ryder Cup appearance for Europe back in 2016, was enduring a troubling first round in Denmark even before arriving on the 12th tee.

Cabrera-Bello was three-over through his first 11 and already fighting to make the cut when he pulled his drive horribly left on the par-4 12th.

Clearly staring another dropped shot in the face, Cabrera-Bello leaned heavily on his driver whilst collecting his tee on the tee box, which made it snap into two.

He did not look overly shocked at what had just happened though, appearing entirely fed up as he picked up the broken parts and passed them back to his caddie.

The jury is out over whether this was completely accidental or a sign that Cabrera-Bello had simply had enough with an uncooperative driver. We’ll let you be the judge of that.

The four-time DP World Tour winner ended up posting a seven-over first round 77 to immediately put himself out of contention in the tournament.

A triple bogey seven on the 12th was followed by a double on the 13th and there won’t have been much consolation in the fact that he managed to close out the rest of his round in one-under par without the big stick.

Cabrera-Bello faired slightly better in Friday’s second round with a 72, but missed the cut by some distance as he was left tied in 140th.

It is second missed cut in a row for the world No.252 after a frustrating week at the British Masters.
