Tiger Woods made his long-awaited return to golf at the Masters – and quickly proved what he was capable of.

After a solid start of five consecutive pars, Woods produced one of the moments of the first round when he almost aced the sixth.

His tee shot came up less than two feet short of the pin, leaving him with a tap-in for birdie.

Woods’ wasn’t the only near-ace during the first round.

Former Open champion Shane Lowry also came close on the fourth when his shot hit the pin.

Unfortunately for the Irishman his ball rebounded off the green – but he was still able to make a par.
