The climax of the DP World Tour rankings gathers some of the best players in the world, fighting for a mega prize purse.

With $10 million dollars and the Race to Dubai on the line, the DP World Tour Championship has established itself as one of the biggest events on the golf calendar.

First contested in 2009, a field of 50 players battle it out in the final stage of the lucrative Rolex Series.

Former winners of the event include Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa, so where is the DP World Tour Championship held?

For over a decade, the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai has played host to the flagship event.

Lee Westwood won the inaugural event, known as the Dubai Championship, winning just over $1 million at the Greg Norman-designed course.

It was the Australian’s first Middle Eastern golf course to open for play and measures just over 7,700 yards.

The par-72 is the first to be designed for a championship and then unveiled as the first tee shot was hit at that championship.

On its ten-year anniversary, the DP World Tour Championship ensured the winner of the event would bag the $3 million first prize.

That winner’s share has remained, although the overall prize purse shot up from $8 million when Jon Rahm won his second title.

Despite playing a limited DP World Tour schedule, the Spaniard, alongside the likes of McIlroy and Hovland, features annually at the Dubai venue.

It was fully grassed in April 2008, but only a few players were invited to catch a glimpse of it in January 2009.

They experienced the final four holes, which included the par-3 17th. It plays to an island green, akin to the iconic hole at TPC Sawgrass.

Inspired by some of the best venues in Europe and North America, the Earth Course has over 100 bunkers and plenty of water to navigate.

Alongside its sister course, Fire, the DP World Tour Championship venue is open to the public, with green fees coming in at around £260.
