An historic exhibition match involving Rory McIlroy, Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry will take place this month to celebrate the reopening of The Golf Course at Adare Manor.
The golf course at the five-star hotel and resort in County Limerick has been wholly reconstructed by Tom Fazio and his team, with the championship layout expected to become one of the most recognised layouts in world golf.
The exhibition match, which takes place on Friday, April 20, will see McIlroy & McGinley compete against Harrington & Lowry in fourball matchplay for a staggering €500,000 charity prize purse.
The winning pair will receive €350,000 to donate to their charity of choice, with the runners-up being granted the consolation of €150,000 for their selected beneficiary.
Adare Manor’s reopening follows a comprehensive two-year reconstruction phase, with the layout immediately capable of hosting golf’s most prestigious events.
Colm Hannon, CEO of Adare Manor, said: “It has been an honour to work with Tom Fazio and his team for the reconstruction of the course here at Adare Manor.
“Tom shares our vision for unmatched quality and this is what we hope has been achieved. The Golf Course at Adare Manor will quickly earn its status among the world’s finest layouts in terms of setting, routing and conditioning.
“The exhibition event promises to be an historic spectacle with the standard of the course only being matched by the standard of golfers playing.”
Adare Manor opened in 2017 following a meticulous 21-month restoration, renovation and expansion to return the storied property to its 19th century splendour.
Surrounded by medieval ruins, walled gardens and winding woodland paths, the preeminent European castle and golf resort encompasses a new 42-bedroom wing, expansive ballroom, La Mer spa, and an exceptional gastronomy programme to deliver an unforgettable guest experience.
