Sergio Garcia
It’s hard to see how this week’s tournament host won’t factor. Looking for his third career win in the event, the Spaniard is making his first appearance since fully vindicating Thomas Bjorn’s contentious decision to make him one of Ryder Cup wild cards. Garcia, 38, won three of his four matches at Le Golf National to become the all-time leading points-scorer in the history of the competition. Buoyed by that and returning to home soil this week – not to mention a course he loves, where he racked up eight top five finishes and 12 top tens in various events down the years – you’d have to expect he’ll feature prominently.
