2 – Gulley

Par 4

Yards 463

“This is where it really starts. You’ve had your gentle start. Now, the questions begin. A good drive is required to negotiate the bunkers that are in front of you, to the left and to the right. You’ve got to stay out of them otherwise you’ll be coming out sideways and you’ve got to take them on because it’s a big hole. If you lay up, you’re going to have 230 yards in there, whereas if you hit driver – and you hit it straight – you’ll have broken the back of it. You’re going to be going in with a 6- or 7-iron, depending on the conditions. The green is pretty long and there’s a bunker up the left that you need to avoid. You can get some tricky stances and lies in that trap, so you want to stay out of it.”
