It’s not just drivers and fairways that make up the Cobra Darkspeed range. Hybrids are making an impact too.

Who are they for?

These will appeal to a wide range of players, particularly those looking for a hybrid that goes a long way.

Cobra Darkspeed hybrids review

One of the age-old questions for golfers when setting up their bag is whether a long-iron or a hybrid should be bridging the gap between irons and fairway woods. If your answer is a hybrid, then the Cobra Darkspeed is a safe bet.

The First Look

Just like the rest of the range, it’s a blacked-out finish on the Cobra Darkspeed hybrid. We’re big fans, and if you like something that’s straightforward but still striking, you’ll love these.

One thing to note with these hybrids is that they’re available in two options, the standard Darkspeed and the ONE-length club.

While I would opt for the standard option, ONE-length, Cobra say, is very popular. If that’s your style, then you’re in luck.

The Tech

Just like the drivers and fairways, you can expect to see PWR-Bridge technology and H.O.T Face technology in these hybrids. It works in the longer clubs, so there’s no reason to change it here.

This is going to help you achieve faster speed, higher launch and increased forgiveness. For any golfer, particularly in a hybrid, this is great to see.

These go up in loft to a 6-hybrid, which has 28-degrees. However, the women’s model features a 7-hybrid, which has 31-degrees. If you really like to swap out some irons in your set, these will be for you. The ONE-length features a maximum loft of 24-degree, and that’s only available as a custom model.

The bunkered Verdict

You can watch our review of the Cobra Darkspeed range in the player below, or on the bunkered YouTube channel!

As with the rest of the Cobra Darkspeed range, we’re real fans of the hybrids.

Personally, I wouldn’t usually go for a hybrid, but these are excellent. They sit very flush behind the ball, while some other hybrid shapes might appear closed. These make you feel that you’ll get the ball in the air and thanks to the technology hidden away inside, it’s easy to do that.

I’d be confident hitting these from a variety of different lies, even from fairly thick rough. Also, if you’re hitting these from a tee, you’re going to be confident of a very high launch. If that’s what you like to see, you’ll love these.

For me, I’m biased as I love hitting long irons, but if I had to pick a hybrid, this would be close to the top of my list.
