Introducing the latest release from Puma, the limited-edition Puma x PTC Slipstream golf shoe.

Puma x PTC Slipstream golf shoes review

You’ll be aware of other golf shoes from Puma, but you might not know about their PTC line. PTC stands for Palm Tree Crew, and was established back in 2020 Austin Criden as well as music personalities Kygo and Myles Shear.

Think of these like Puma’s chance to do something a little bit different, which they’ve certainly done with these. Let’s take a closer look at the details.

The First Look

Doing golf trainers can be a difficult art to master, but we think Puma has nailed these. The phrase, ‘can be worn on or off the golf course’ is used a lot when things like these launch, but these are a perfect example where it’s true. You could absolutely wear these in day-to-day life and look pretty cool in doing so.

Puma bill these as the ‘ultimate blend of tropical vibes, golf performance and style,’ and we agree.

The Tech

You might not think that too much technology goes into a pair of golf trainers, but the Puma x PTC Slipstream golf shoes have plenty of innovation so that they perform well on the course.

These feature premium leather and suede construction, which gives them the look of a tennis shoe. But, they still have the performance of a golf shoe.

On the bottom, you’ll find a spikeless outsole traction pattern, which will keep your feet planted on any conditions on the course. Inside, there’s a PROFOAM midsole, which will make these feel like any other comfortable pair of trainers.

Finally, there’s a mesh molded sock liner that, again, will keep you comfortable, and let you wear ankle socks with them.

“We wanted to use a Slipstream, originally a Puma lifestyle shoe, to make a statement on the course, so we designed a pair with our unique PTC spin. Palm Tree Crew has flourished into an epic collaboration between Rickie Fowler and myself and I am always blown away by the designs and gear we are able to bring to the golf course with Puma Golf.”

– Kygo

The bunkered verdict

These are extremely cool and will definitely appeal to a younger audience. We love what Puma are doing, particularly the Palm Tree Crew gear, and these look to be carrying on that trend.

The colours are fresh and the palm tree chain hanging from the lace is a nice touch.

We’ll get our hands on a pair of these, but they’re probably better suited for dry, summer conditions, so they might need to wait a while before getting out on the course.
