Shot Scope Pro ZR rangefinder review

The team at Shot Scope are back with a brand-new addition to an already impressive line-up.

The Shot Scope Pro ZR rangefinder is the first metal hardshell rangefinder from the company, which is packed with features designed to take your game to the next level. Let’s see what they have on offer.

The First Look

This is a very premium looking product from the Edinburgh-based company, and something a little bit different compared to what they usually have to offer.

The DuraShield Hardshell outer certainly looks the part, and if it makes your device more durable then Shot Scope is onto a winner. When I first got my hands on this, it was clear that durability is at the heart of this product. It’s weighty in the hand without being too heavy.

Also, the silver finish around the lens really offers a premium feel in this product. As always with Shot Scope, the carry case is great material and easy to access, without giving you any worries about the rangefinder falling out.

The Tech

This rangefinder comes with many of the innovations you would expect from the team at Shot Scope. Firstly, the rapid-fire detection and enhanced target-lock vibration is going to make it really easy to pick up your target, no matter the background.

Shot Scope’s ultra-clear LCD display, combined with Red / Black dual optics, means golfers will see their target clearly. The PRO ZR ensures that players can read their measurements regardless of the time of day, over a distance of 1,500 yards.

“The addition of the PRO ZR to our line-up of products is very exciting for us and we’re pleased to be able to offer golfers another option to advance their game. The rangefinder is a game-changing design for us, with the DuraShield Hardshell adding an extra layer of confidence in the durability and feel of the product,” comments David Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Shot Scope.

The bunkered Verdict

Once again, Shot Scope has nailed it with the Pro ZR. They are making no secret of the fact they want this rangefinder to be top quality and to last many years, and although I’ve not had it that long, I see no reason I couldn’t be using it in a decade’s time.

The hardshell outer really does inspire confidence that if, for example, your bag was to fall over and the rangefinder was to get crushed, there would be no issues. It’s not a new feature on Shot Scope products, but having the option to change between red and black optics is great, especially if you’re playing on a dull day. You can also switch between metres and yards, so no matter what metric you measure in, you’ll be covered.

The slope feature is great, but what I particularly like about it is the fact it’s virtually impossible to accidentally turn your slope on. That’s not what you want in a tournament round.

Another thing you’ll love about this rangefinder is that purchasing it gets you access to the Shot Scope app. That’s going to allow you to get a bird’s eye view of any hole you want, and allow you to plot the shots you hit on the course that day. We’ve used that feature in the past and it’s really useful.

If you’re looking for a top quality, premium rangefinder for 2024, look no further.
