I took the Sunday Golf El Camino bag for a spin and it was awesome. Here’s what I thought of it.
When these arrived in the bunkered office, the whole team said the same thing. “You’ll never get enough clubs in those!” Well, they were wrong. We tested out three of the stand bags from Sunday Golf: the El Camino (the largest), the Loma XL (mid-sized) and the Loma (the smallest).
All of these bags looked excellent and I’ve got to say, I immediately took a shine to the El Camino, which was in a cracking looking Seafoam colour. That’s a light blue shade that looks brilliant. But, all the bags come in several colour choices, so there is something for everyone.
I think a lot of golf bags can look quite dreary, but these look quality. But how do they perform on the course?

Let’s focus on the El Camino for just now. Here’s what Sunday Golf has to say about it.
They say it’s perfect for the cart lover who also enjoys the walk. As well as that, they say the flat base, padded shoulder straps and pocket space make this the perfect walking golf bag.
At just 3.9lbs, it’s light and made for carrying up to ten clubs. It has a four-way divider, a velour lined valuables pocket and high-tech, water-resistant zippers.
There’s also a pocket for keeping your drinks cold, alcoholic or not.
I took this out for nine holes at Golf It! Glasgow and it was the perfect bag for a Sunday (of course) morning round. I took a half set of irons with me, but in reality, you could almost fit a full set in here, if you really wanted to.
I’ve used stand bags in the past where the legs don’t always spring out as they should, but this wasn’t the case here. Even when the bag is empty, the flat base and long legs do their job perfectly.
To carry, this bag was a dream. Light, comfortable with adjustable straps and small enough that club clatter wasn’t an issue, this is great for just taking a few clubs on the course and heading straight to the first tee.
I also really like the small, unzipped pocket that sits above the main pocket. It’s perfect for either putting your rangefinder in, or just putting your hand there as you’re walking. That large pocket is more than big enough to fit a jacket and waterproof trousers in.
On the other side of the bag, the ‘frosty’ pocket is perfect for drinks and snacks. There’s also a pocket that is fine for balls, tees, gloves and anything else. I really like the placement of the velcro for your glove too. It’s a small touch but it makes a difference on the course.
I took the El Camino out on the course, while my colleague John Turnbull took the Loma XL bag to the driving range. He described that bag as “featherweight” and with “enough room for all your essentials – including a drinks cooler, making it perfect for trips to the driving range.” A thumbs up from him too.
Overall, this range is perfect for golfers who prefer to carry their clubs. Sunday Golf has a tool which allows you to see which bag is right for you and you can use that here.
