The new Odyssey Ai One and Ai-One Milled putters feature an all-new forgiving face insert and I’m a big fan. It’s so forgiving that the new Ai face insert will get you 21% closer to the hole.

Personally, putting is something I struggle with. I tend to pull a lot of putts to the left, which certainly isn’t what you want. For me when someone says this can get you 21% closer to the hole, I’m going to jump at that in a heartbeat.

Jon Rahm used the Odyssey Ai-One putter during the Ryder Cup and made an incredible two-putt on the 18th hole at Marco Simone to half his singles match.

But, he struck his first putt on that green out of the heel, displaying the forgiveness of the new Ai-One insert.

The two new Ai-One models from Odyssey are different in colour but resemble the same shapes we have seen previously in Odyssey ranges like Versa and Tri-Hot.

Odyssey Ai-One putters review

Ai-One features a black and blue colourway with a urethane white insert whilst the Ai-One Milled has a black stainless-steel body with a titanium rose gold insert.

They both look slick, but I really like the nice touch they’ve added with the polymer window to the Ai-One putters.

• Shot Scope launches MyStrategy feature

What you can see through the window on the Ai-One Double Wide, for example, is the aluminium strip which sits on the back of the White Hot Insert, so you can see the contours of the Ai design. A touch that I’m a big fan of.

When it comes to feel, I am a big fan of both putters. As someone who has used an Odyssey Tri-Hot in the past, I love the feel of the Urethane Insert with Ai-One and I love the crisp acoustic and solid feel from the Ai-One Milled face.

I took both these putters out on the course and loved both of them. Not only did they feel great, but the distance control on longer putts was impressive.

• Odyssey: Ai-One putters

The putts I mishit started on the intended line and the longer putts which I would’ve struggled with were closer, giving me a better chance to two putt.

I was lucky enough to attend the Odyssey Ai-One launch event where I was fitted for a putter. I was fitted into the Ai-One Double Wide, pictured above, which is a great shape for my eye.

So, the next day, we took the putters on the course and I was sinking more putts and hitting those longer putts a lot closer.

On the greens, I was noticeably better and confidence-wise, I felt like I could putt for a change. This will be hard to take out of the bag.

With recognisable head shapes, Odyssey has fantastic options to choose from, with a putter for everyone.
