The 2014 Ryder Cup will live long in the memory of Scottish golf fans. For the first time since 1973, and only the second time ever, the world’s biggest golf team event was staged in the home of golf – and what an occasion it was. Paul McGinley’s European side resisted the challenge of an American team led by the great Tom Watson to win 16½-11½ in glorious autumn weather in Perthshire, with Wales’ Jamie Donaldson the match-winner.
