Known in golf circles as “The King”, Arnold Palmer was a trailblazer for golfers maximising their brand.

But what were Arnold Palmer’s career earnings and how much money did he make on and off the golf course?

Arnold Palmer’s career earnings and net worth

Palmer is one of the most charismatic players golf has ever seen – and of course, one of the best. He won seven major championships in total, including four triumphs at the Masters.

He won 55 regular PGA Tour events and notched another 33 pro wins during his garlanded, inspirational career. Palmer won fans worldwide for both his play and his personality, emerging as a true icon that transcended the sport.

But despite his incredible success, Palmer made nothing like the kind of figures players earn in the modern era for his victories.

In total, the Arnold Palmer website lists his total competitive earnings excluding pro-ams and skins games at $6,924,319.

• What is Tiger Woods’ net worth?

From regular PGA Tour events, he earned $2,130,239, while banking a further $2,277,972 on the US senior circuit.

In international events outside the US, Palmer took home just over $2.5million.

But Palmer’s financial success really took off away from his career on the course. His company Arnold Palmer Enterprises, with the unmistakable umbrella logo, has made him one of the highest-paid sporting stars in history.

During his colourful life, Palmer took advantage of a whole host of business opportunities, designing over 300 courses and signing a number of lucrative endorsement deals.

• What is Jon Rahm’s net worth?

The Hall of Fame member helped found the Golf Channel and also had huge success from his range of apparel, which is still popular to this day. He also helped launch a line of beverages in 2001 with his favourite blend of ice tea and lemonade.

According to Sportico‘s study made in 2022, Palmer is the third highest earner in sports history after earning roughly $885 million across his lifetime. Only Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan have made more.

Jack Nicklaus, Palmer’s great old rival, is fourth on the list with estimated earnings of $870million.

Sportico’s numbers estimating inflation have Palmer’s earnings at $1.7billion.
