The DP World Tour’s international Swing is over halfway through, as the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters marks the only stop in the Middle Eastern nation.

Founded in 1998, the event was one of two European Tour events staged in the Arabian Peninsula, but was at one point, one of six.

‘Promotional’ money was initially paid to top pros to bolster fields, and scheduled around events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it attracted one of the year’s strongest fields.

In 2018, though, it moved to later in the year and hasn’t been able to lure in the same quality as before.

Adam Scott, Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia re among the former winners, while Scots have fared well in the competition, too.

Andrew Coltart won the inaugural event 26 years ago before Paul Lawrie lifted the title twice. Ewen Ferguson was the most recent in 2022.

He’ll return to Doha alongside the likes of Rasmus Hojgaard, Yannik Paul and Pablo Larrazabal, all vying for a chunk of the $2.5 million prize purse.

The bunkered Bet

Harrison Endycott 70/1 EW

The Australian has played twice on the DP World Tour, logging finishes of T18 and T16, and looks set for another big effort this week. Endycott has the long-range approach game to give himself chances here, and nine birdies in a blustery round in Bahrain last week can inspire confidence.
