The famed biennial match has always demanded extensive coverage, but is the Ryder Cup going to be shown on the BBC?
Unfortunately, golf fans in the UK won’t be able to rely on the public broadcaster for coverage, as the BBC does not show the Ryder Cup.
Since its inception in 1927, the Ryder Cup has become the most famous prize in men’s team golf and was shown on the British TV channel at one point.
However, Sky Sports is now the home of the heated rivalry between Europe and the United States.

The Ryder Cup on the BBC
In 1995, Sky Sports took over the rights for live coverage of the Ryder Cup and has held them ever since.
The BBC has had two prolonged periods of coverage, and most notably showed the Ryder Cup on TV and radio when the event started.
From 1927 to 1971, the BBC aired free coverage of matches for audiences in the UK before ITV gained TV rights, beginning at the 1973 event.
The BBC continued to cover the Ryder Cup on radio, while it regained TV rights in 1981 after an eight-year hiatus.
However, after seven consecutive Cups, the BBC lost out to Sky Sports, as the subscription service secured a multi-million-pound deal.

It means that the British Broadcasting Corporation has not presented the Ryder Cup since the United States lifted the trophy at the Belfry, in England, in 1993.
The BBC now presents a highlights package, which is shown after each night of action throughout the tournament.
Those are available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, while live text coverage, clips, and highlights are published on the BBC Sport website and app.
Golf fans can still follow the drama unfolding live from the course through on-site commentary on BBC Radio 5-live, Sports Extra, and BBC Sounds.
